Right then, that’s it from this game but the action continues in the Hundred, 2023. The Oval Invincibles will take on the London Spirit at the Oval tomorrow. The Women’s game will begin at 7.30 pm IST (2.00 pm GMT) while the Men’s game will start at 11 pm IST (5.30 pm GMT). But as know, you can always join us early for the build-up. Until then, take care, and cheers!
Colin Munro is the Hero of the Match for his brilliant knock of 66 off 35. Munro says that he just looked to build a steady stand with Tom Kohler-Cadmore. Adds that he was lucky to get a few big hits away and praises Daniel Sams for his role. Mentions that the opposition bowlers bowled too full and that helped. Says that it feels good to get over the line and applauds young Josh Turner for the way he bowled.
Earlier in the game, Trent Rockets dragged their way to 152 for 6 courtesy of a fine 35-ball 66 from Colin Munro. None of the other batters got going and Munro single-handedly took his team to a competitive score. David Willey, Jake Ball, and Roelof van der Merwe picked up two each and kept the game in control for the most part of the innings. The final set from Roelof van der Merwe went for plenty and shifted the momentum toward the visitors. Welsh Fire, however, did an excellent job with the ball to restrict the powerful Trent Rockets to a reasonable total.
Daniel Sams was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets while Ish Sodhi and John Turner got one apiece. Young John Turner, on debut, did a terrific job bowling the final set and got his team over the line in the pressure situation. Welsh Fire will be disappointed as they had wickets in hand but the home side messed up in the chase.
Phew! What a game we have witnessed! This went right down to the wire and Trent Rockets came out victorious at the end. Chasing 153 for the win, Welsh Fire got off to a scratchy start as Bairstow and Stephen Eskinazi struggled to get going. Stephen Eskinazi got a couple of boundaries away but perished soon after. Luke Wells was dismissed early as the Welsh Fire were reduced to 65 for 3. Tom Abell joined hands with Joe Clarke and the duo added 54 for the 4th wicket and kept the Welsh Fire in the chase. Abell departed at the wrong time while Glenn Phillips and Joe Clarke were gone soon after. Welsh Fire needed 12 off the final three balls and Roelof van der Merwe tried hard but Welsh Fire fell short by 4 runs. Trent Rockets get two crucial points.

That's it, John Turner has held his nerve and Trent Rockets manage to get over the line. Full and wide, Roelof van der Merwe stays deep in his crease and hammers it down to long off for a single. Trent Rockets win by 4 runs!

FOUR! Streaky but will do nicely for Welsh Fire. Fullish length around off, Roelof van der Merwe swings hard across the line and gets a thick outside edge that runs away into the third man fence.

OUT! RUN OUT! Hard length outside off, Joe Clarke stands tall and hammers it down to long on for one. The batters all of a sudden push hard fofrr two. Alex Hales picks up the ball and throws it back to the keeper. Clarke tries to get back but is not even in the frame as Tom Kohler-Cadmore whips off the bails. End of a valiant knock from Joe Clarke.

OUT! CAUGHT! Daniel Sams has the last laugh here but Glenn Phillips has certainly given Welsh Fire a big chance here. Bowled slightly back of a length and angled across from over the stumps. Phillips stays deep in his crease and tries to force it over the long off fence. The ball goes high but not far and Alex Hales at long off takes a simple catch. 14 needed now off the final set.

Well done in the end! Banged in short over middle, Glenn Phillips backs away and swats it baseball-style toward cow corner. Joe Root from long on overruns it a bit but manages to just about keep it in play. Two runs are taken.

SIX! Welsh Fire are very much in it now. Slower one, bowled from around the stumps and into the pitch. The ball sits up and Glenn Phillips waits for it before pulling it over the wide long on fence for a maximum. 16 needed now off 7 balls.
