That's it from this game and it is Trent Rockets who have inflicted yet another defeat on Welsh Fire and have all but secured that top spot on the points table. Welsh Fire end their miserable campaign with yet another heavy defeat. The action in The Hundred continues on Tuesday, 30th August as London Spirit go up against Birmingham Phoenix. The first game is between the women from both sides and will begin at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm IST) but our build-up will begin sooner. Cheers!
Dawid Malan (58 off 37 balls) is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his brilliant knock. Starts by saying the wicket sort of was on the slower side and it helped him to play his natural game. Wishes that hopefully they can go straight into the final and have an extra day off. Adds that Tabraiz Shamsi is an excellent character to have on the team as he keeps the environment positive in the dressing room. He hopes that his form continues in the next match as well.
The Presentation ceremony...
Earlier in the game, after being inserted, the Rockets smashed the Welsh bowlers to all parts on what seemed like a slow wicket. They got to a total we felt was well above par and have ended up defending it easily.
The Rockets bowled brilliantly. The wicket too supported their bowlers. It was holding, spinning, staying low and whatnot. The two spinners, Tabraiz Shamsi and Samit Patel made life very difficult for the Welsh batters and got vital wickets. The pacers too did their job decently. Daniel Sams probably will be disappointed with the way he bowled and so did Luke Wood towards the end as he lost grip of the ball on a couple of occasions but the rest were excellent.
This is a massive win for Trent Rockets and they have more or less sealed their place at the top of the table. They just got too many runs against a side that is struggling big time with the bat and that showed in this innings as well. Nobody got going for Welsh Fire at the top and when you chase a big target you need the top order to go big. There were a few who got off to starts but none went on to make it something significant. Matt Critchley did end up with a well-deserved half-century but it was already too late when he started firing. They have fallen well short in the end.

NO BALL AND FOUR! Another one which comes out wrong. Not sure if it is slipping out or what! A high full toss outside off, Matt Critchley guides it past short third man for a boundary. With that, Critchley brings up a valiant half-century as well.
