Right then, that is all we have from this game. On Saturday, 12th of August, we have London Spirits taking on Trent Rockets at 7 pm IST (1.30 pm GMT). The second game of the Men’s Hundred will be played between Welsh Fire and Southern Brave which will start at 10.30 pm IST (5 pm GMT). Do join us for the build-up of both the games. Cheers!
Jordan Cox is the HERO OF THE MATCH. He says that it was a tight game and appreciated Banton for batting brilliantly. He said that the outfield was short on the straights and the outfield was fast. He added that he only wanted to look for runs and tried building a partnership. He joked that the secret to scoring fifties is playing golf before the match.
Northern Superchargers will feel that they gave away little too much with the ball. The target of 186 was always going to be tough and once they lost Short and Brook early, it got tougher. However, Banton and Adam Hose did not back down and launched a brilliant counter-attack to keep Northern Superchargers in the hunt. Hose departed after a well-made 41 off 19 balls but Banton showed his complete range in this game. He thrashed Oval Invincibles bowlers apart and it looked like he would pull off an incredible win for Superchargers. However, Sam Curran got the big fish Tom Banton on the 85th ball and Sunil Narine got Wiese on 88th delivery to make things difficult for the Superchargers again. They could not get boundaries in the end and ended up falling short by 9 runs.
Oval Invincibles win was setup by their batters once again. Cox was absolutely brilliant with his batting antics and was accompanied by the brutal force of Will Jacks and Klaasen. They got 185 on the board and started off well with the ball in the Powerplay with wickets of Short and Brook. Atkinson and Spencer Johnson were brilliant in their opening spell while Curran too did his job to perfection. He got Brook first and then got the dangerous Tom Banton who was taking the game away from Oval Invincibles. Gus Atkinson then came back to display his class at the death and Narine too bowled a brilliant last set to make sure that Oval get another crucial win under their belt.
We have witnessed a thrilling encounter! Absolutely exciting brand of cricket and in the end, Oval Invincibles have managed to inch past Northern Superchargers here. Invincibles consolidate their position at the top of the table with this win and Northern Superchargers have lost their first game of the season.
