Match Abandoned

Commentry
Well, well, well, the inevitable has happen. What a shame! The rain had stopped for a while, but it has come back in no time and it is really unfit for the players. The sun was out and shining during the Women's game, we got full action then, but could only get 62 balls of action out of 200 balls in the Men's contest. The English weather has been harsh with this sport, and we have hardly had any uniterrupted games being played in this part of the world in the past two weeks. The same happened during the Ashes 2023. Nevertheless, credit to the groundstaff who tried really hard to keep the playing conditions safer for the players, but the rain gods literally poured water on their hard work. So, another match goes down without any result in this edition of the Hundred Men. Hopefully, we are able to get some enticing action on 5th August, as the action continues in the Hundred. It will be Souther Brave who will be taking on Welsh Fire. The first ball will be at 11 pm IST, but as you all know you can join us advance for the build-up as well. Until then, take care and goodbye.
Update 12:09 am IST (6:39 pm GMT): It's still drizzling at the ground and there are huge puddles of water formed around the park. Things don't look promising at the moment but we remain optimistic.
Update 11.48 pm IST (6.18 pm GMT) - Oh dear! Out of nowhere, the rain has started to come down, a bit heavier as well. The officials and the players march off the field now. The covers are on, and well this is how English Summer works, if you are new to this. Looking at the sky, it should be a passing show, but the groundstaff are getting more covers on.

Googly this time, around middle. Chris Benjamin tries to cut it off his back foot, but is cramped for room as well. Banton takes the catch and he thinks that the batter has nicked it. Northern Superchargers take the review but the UltraEdge confirms no bat is involved. The ball does not even clip his pads. Wonder where the sound came from then.

Back of a length, on middle. Ben Duckett pulls it to deep mid-wicket for one.

OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! Another man bites the dust. Shadab Khan walks back on a 2-ball duck. Matthew Short has struck twice in his first set of 5. Brilliant decision by Wayne Parnell to get him on. It is tossed up, full and on off. Shadab Khan goes for the slog sweep but it catches the top-edge and flies back to the bowler. Matthew Short takes an easy catch.

FOUR!  Well played. A bit short, on fourth stump, plenty pace on offer as well. Mousley stays back and runs it down to third man for a cracking boundary.
