Right then, that is it from the game. It was a great chase from the Dutch side. The  ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers action continues as we have two games lined up on Friday, the 23rd of June. It will be Sri Lanka versus Oman and Scotland versus the United Arab Emirates. Both games will begin at 12.30 pm IST (7 am GMT). Do join us a bit early for the build-up as well. Until then, take care, and cheers!
Aaron Jones, the skipper of the USA says that they batted well but fell short of a few runs. Adds that 250 would have been a good score. He says that they tried their best but lost the game. Says that losing a lot of wickets is what cost them the game. Ends by saying that they will come back stronger in their next game.
Scott Edwards, the skipper of the Netherlands is the Player of the Match for his unbeaten knock of 67 runs from 60 balls. He says that he is happy to get the win. Adds that it was a disappointing loss in the first game but good to fight back here. Mentions that he was pleased to be there at the end. Shares that he looks to be busy hitting the gaps and running hard. Reckons that having a few games under the belt certainly helps. Ends by saying that he tries to stay in the middle for longer periods when he gets himself in.
Presentations coming up...
Earlier in the match, Netherlands bowlers were off to a flier and had put the USA in a situation where they were 88/6 inside 27 overs. Shayan Jahangir played a crucial knock of 71 runs and gave their side something to fight for. Bas de Leede and Ryan Klein were the pick of the bowlers for the Dutch side as they picked two wickets each. The rest of their bowlers picked up a wicket each.
USA bowlers bowled their skins but just fell short of a few runs. Have they had a few more runs on the board, things would have been different. Jessy Singh was certainly the pick of the bowlers and he chipped in with two crucial wickets. Nosthush Kenjige, Saurabh Netravalkar, and Ali Khan picked up a wicket each.
Chasing a low total, the Netherlands had a shaky start and lost some early wickets in the game. Max O'Dowd and Wesley Barresi chipped in with some cameos at the start but lost their wickets. Teja Nidamanuru came on and steadied the sinking ship for a while but was dismissed for 58 runs. Later, their skipper, Scott Edwards scored a half-century and made sure their side got well over the line.
What a game we have witnessed just now! With this win, the Netherlands keep their hopes alive of qualifying and the USA is out of contention. The momentum of this game swung like a pendulum from one side to another and at the end, it was the Dutch side who came out on top, and it was their skipper who led the way at the end.
