That is it from this game. The action continues in the Hundred on 25th August as Southern Brave will take on Trent Rockets at 11.30 pm IST (6 pm GMT). But before that, the Women's team will be in action. So do join us at 8 pm IST (2.30 pm GMT) for all the action. You can join us early for the build up as well. Cheers!
Dan Lawrence is the Player of the Match for his all-round performance. He says it was about absorbing the pressre while batting and hopefully they catched up well in the end. On the pitch, he says it was sticky, it was crucial to stay at the crease for a while. Adds that it was nice to take a couple of wickets which is always a bonus and help the team.
Earlier in the day, after electing to bowl, Welsh had London in trouble after they had lost three wickets. Lawrence and Pollard took them to a score above par and it was Lawrence again with the ball who helped his side over the line.
The bowling was brilliant for London Spirit and so was the capitancy. Liam Dawson was the pick out for them but everybody played their part. Ellis was impressive at the death. Even when things were not going their way, they held their nerve. Chris Wood took three wickets in the last set to end with four wickets.
London Spirit are back to winnng ways with a very convincing win. A 150-plus score was always going to be a huge task and Welsh Fire had a poor start as their top order in no time. It wasn’t till the pair of Dwaine Pretorius and Ben Duckett they showed some fight. Leus du Plooy then continued it but once Dwaine fell, it was too much of an ask from the rest. In the end, it is yet another defeat for them.
