Dan Lawrence, the captain of London Spirit wins the Player of the Match award for his explosive effort with the bat. He says with a boundary so short on one side but thankfullly the side got over the line. Adds that to defend here is not that easy but teams shall expect some boundaries on this ground. Also adds that it feel great to have Zak back and his innings helped the side massively with a positive start. Closes by saying that it feels lovely to play against such a nice crowd and they hope to build on this win going ahead.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
This was certainly a batting deck, as we saw 388 runs being scored here. London Spirit's innings was led by skipper, Dan Lawrence who made sure to up the ante once Zak Crawley departed after getting off to a promising start. Lawrence though will be gutted to miss out on his ton by just 7 runs. In the end, Ravi Bopara and Daryl Mitchell knocked a few ball around and helped to get to a huge total, which they somehow managed to defend in the end.
Chasing a huge target is never easy when you lose early wickets. Trent Rockets lost Dawid Malan just on the sixth ball of the innings, Hales got off to a decent start but followed suit. This is when Joe Root came at the crease and forged a brilliant partnership with Tom Kohler-Cadmore of 57 runs, which helped to keep their side in this chase here. To be honest, it looked like Joe Root was batting on some other deck here. He was mixing up his shots really well - with some scoops, reverse scoops, sweeps and that too from the get go, which made it difficult for the bowlers to attack him. His unbeaten knock of 72 runs made sure that Trent Rockets get close to this humongous target. Not to forget a handy contribution from Daniel Sams, down the order, if he could've stuck around then Trent Rockets could've easily gotten over the line here. For London Spirit, Daniel Worrall was excellent with the new ball, as he picked up two crucial wickets. Liam Dawson chipped in with a brace as well, and Nathan Ellis with a game-changing wicket right in the final set.
Phew! What an humdinger of a match. Both the teams gave it their all, but it were hosts who came out on top here. For once it looked like Trent Rockets were on their way to complete an historic chase here, but the wicket of Daniel Sams swung the momentum tremendously in the favour of London Spirit, as that wicket left Joe Root at the non-striker's end. Credit to Nathan Ellis who kept his calm in the final set of 5 and eventually got his side over the victory line here.

Daniel Sams asks for a review but al reds on ball-tracker stamps the on-field decision. A brilliant cameo comes to an end.
