Right then, that is it from this game. The rain has played a spoilsport here at the historic venue of Lord's. However, the action continues as we have a doubleheader in store on Wednesday, the 9th of August. It will be Trent Rockets versus Northern Superchargers at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT) and Oval Invincibles versus Manchester Originals at 11 pm IST (5.30 pm GMT). So, another match of The Hundred has been washed out and both sides share a point each. The game started well with Spirits winning the toss and opting to bowl first. They managed to pick up a wicket of Conway before the game was interrupted once. The game then began with 50 balls per side as the Spirits took two wickets in a jiffy and they were going well on track but the rain gods had other plans in mind and the game was called off. Both the sides are reeling at the bottom half of the table and will be hoping for no interruptions and win their next games.
UPDATE - 1.22 pm IST (7.52 pm GMT, the previous day) - The match has been ABANDONED and the players will shake hands. It has been a disappointing end to a highly-anticipated encounter as the rain gods continue to plague this competition.
UPDATE - 1.07 am IST (7.37 pm GMT, the previous day) - The rain comes back down steadily and the umpires have asked the players to leave the field. The match officials are in the middle with their umbrellas having a chat. We need to start the game at 1.42 pm IST (8.12 pm GMT, the previous day) to have a 25-over match. Does not look likely though as the additional covers are coming on to cover the side patches. They will take more time to dry out these covers if the rain does stop and it seems like we are looking at another no-result game. Stay tuned...

OUT! TAKEN! Liam Dawson takes a blinder at extra covers. On a length and outside off, and it shapes away a shade, James Vince looks to go over covers but mistimes it completely. The ball carries towards extra covers. Liam Dawson runs to his left, makes a dive and takes a blinder. James Vince makes his way back into the hut!

OUT! CAUGHT! Finn Allen never really got going in this inning and has finally perished! Liam Dawson floats this one slightly short and wide outside the off pole, much slower in the air. Finn Allen shimmies down the wicket and looks to make room but has to reach for the ball. Does not connect cleanly and the ball goes high towards long on where Zak Crawley settles under this and takes a comfortable catch. Both the openers for Southern Brave are now back in the shed but they will have to keep going as this is shortened game.
