Right then, that is it from the game. It was a tight one but Oman did well to win it. The action continues as we have two games lined up on Tuesday, 20th of June as well. It will be Nepal versus United States and Zimbabwe versus Netherlands. Both games will start at 12.30 pm IST (7. am GMT). Do join us for the early build up as well. Until then, take care and cheers!
Zeeshan Maqsood says that it feels fantastic to win and it is an honor to captain such a brilliant side. He adds that this has to be the best day for us as a group to defeat such a brilliant team in Ireland. He also adds that it was a collective effort and it has to be that way to defeat such a big team and yes the team is dreaming of India later in the year as that is the main aim for which Oman is here.
Andy Balbirnie says that Oman batted really well and they bowled well and managed to break through the team which made them victorious today. He also adds that Oman has always been a brilliant side and is improving constantly and credit must be given to them. He closes by saying that it is never okay to lost early in such a big tournament but it is fine to lose and we will do our homework tomorrow and come back stronger again.
Stay tuned for Presentation...
Earlier in the game, it was a George Dockrell show as he scored an unbeaten 91 and made his side reach to a good total. Fayyaz Butt and Bilal Khan picked up two wickets each whilst Zeeshan Maqsood, Ayaan Khan and Jay Odedra chipped in with a wicket each.
Ireland will be upset with their performance as they had a good total on the board. They will look to improve on their bowling unit in the following games. Joshua Little took two wickets and was certainly the pick of the bowlers for them. Mark Adair picked two while George Dockrell chipped in with one.
Shoaib Khan does it in style! What a win! That was well-composed batting from the Oman side. They lost an early wicket but Kashyap Prajapati was the man who anchored the innings for them with Aqib Ilyas playing alongside him. Once they were dismissed, the skipper took the onus and scored a half-century but he had an unlucky dismissal. Mohammad Nadeem later played his part and made sure that his side got well over the line.
