That is it from this game but don't go anywhere as one more game is coming up today. Galle Gladiators will take on Kandy Falcons shortly at 7.30 pm IST (2:00 pm GMT). Do switch the tabs and enjoy the coverage of that game. Cheers!
Thisara Perera, the skipper of Jaffna Kings, says that the bowlers did a good job on this wicket. Adds that you need to have a score in excess of 160 on this wicket. Shares that since Dambulla Giants had many left-handers including Bhanuka Rajapaksa, he did not use Dunith Wellalage. Ends by saying that it is a long tournament and there is nothing to worry about Dunith Wellalage.
Dasun Shanaka the skipper of Dambulla Giants, says that it is disappointing but they need to learn and move on. Adds that they did not capitalise on the conditions well and the opposition did bowl really well. Ends by saying that will come back and he believes in his team.
Sadeera Samarawickrama is the Player of the Match for his unbeaten knock of 62 runs from 44 balls. He says that he is really happy to deliver on the big stage. Adds that he had nothing to lose and he stuck to the basics. Ends by saying that it was all about backing himself.
Stay tuned for Presentations ...
Earlier, Dambulla Giants got off to a solid start and had a 63-run opening stand. However, they lost their way after both the openers were sent back into the hut and after that, the wickets kept on tumbling for them. They struggled after that and could not reach a par total. Vijayakanth Viyaskanth and Maheesh Theekshana were the picks of the bowlers for Jaffna Kings as they took three wickets each and James Fuller bagged two.
Dambulla Giants bowlers never seemed to have troubled the openers of Jaffna Kings. They just couldn't get a breakthrough at the start of the game and a low total on the board made things worse for them. They finally managed to get a wicket in the very end but it made no difference in the game for them.
An excellent display with the bat and have to say that Jaffna Kings were well in control of the game from the beginning. Sadeera Samarawickrama and Avishka Fernando never seemed in trouble chasing down the total and played their way brilliantly. Sadeera Samarawickrama did get a lifeline in the 13th over as the ball grazed his bat but there wasn't any excitement shown by the Dambulla Giants players. Both the openers scored a half-century and finished the game for Jaffna Kings. Avishka Fernando however had a controversial dismissal in the end but the job was already done.
