Stay tuned for the presentation...
Earlier in the game, Dambulla Aura were off to a solid start after opting to bat courtesy of their openers. Jordan Cox and Shevon Daniel notched up their fifties and stitched a 163-run opening stand. However, once that partnership was broken, Dambulla Aura lost their way towards the end of the innings losing 3 wickets in the final over and could not finish on a high. Despite the late blip with the bat, the bowlers delivered and helped Dambulla Aura to successfully defend the total.
Galle Gladiators did a good job to restrict the opposition to a lower total and it was upon the batters to start well in their pursuit of 179. However, Kusal Mendis and Thanuka Dabare were dismissed cheaply and were reduced to 52-4 inside the Powerplay. Lahiru Udara, Asad Shafiq and Iftikhar Ahmed did get off to decent starts but failed to make it count. The onus was on Iftikhar Ahmed to bail them out of trouble but he kept losing partners and as a result, Galle Gladiators were bowled out for 130 falling short by 48 runs.
Dambulla Aura are finally off the mark in the Lanka Premier League 2022! A clinical display with both bat and ball sees Dambulla Aura collect their first points of the competition. Their bowlers were right on the money since the start taking four wickets inside the Powerplay. They continued to keep it tight after the Powerplay as well. However, they did concede a few when Iftikhar Ahmed and Lahiru Udara were batting. They clawed their way into the game after dismissing the set batters and bundled out the opposition for 130. Pramod Madushan was the pick of the bowlers for them with figures of 3 for 17. While Sikandar Raza too chipped in with two wickets and Dasun Shanaka, Matthew Forde, Dilum Sudeera and Noor Ahmad took a wicket each.
