Right then, that is it from this rain affected game which the Barbados Royals won pretty convincingly and have made it two wins on the trot. Saint Lucia Kings are yet to hunt their first win of the season and would be eager to turn things around before it gets too late. The action continues on Monday, 5th September with St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots taking on Guyana Amazon Warriors at 4.30 am IST (11 pm GMT, the previous day) Our build-up though will begin much in advance. Do join us for that. Cheers!
Faf du Plessis, the captain of Saint Lucia Kings says that he knew that the DLS would have favoured the Royals especially with the early wickets they lost and rightly so. Ends by saying that they made some mistake and hopes that they can correct them in the next game
David Miller, the victorious skipper starts by saying credit to Kings they put some pressure on us in the end. Praises Kyle Mayers for his exceptional spell with the ball. Adds they had to re-build in the middle and that's what they did. Ends by saying he is quite happy with the teams effort.
Kyle Mayers win the Man of the Match award for his outstanding spell with the ball. He says that he expressed himself while batting in the powerplay and did what he can do with ball as he is used to opening the bowling. Adds that after the delay they knew that Faf du Plessis and Alzarri Joseph are very good batters and they needed to bowl well which they did. Mentions that he is very excited about the Royals Women's taking part in the CPL final. Ends by wishing them well.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Earlier in the day, the Barbados Royals batters got off to a flier. At the end of the first 10 overs, 180 looked possible but Saint Lucia Kings pulled things back brilliantly. The target too was too much in the end and the rain breaks also did not help their cause.
Barbados Royals were on fire with the ball particularly Kyle Mayers who ran havoc with the ball. He was on song with the ball and recorded his best figures in T20 of 2-1-4-4. It was his effort that put his side in the driving seat. Nevertheless, Barbados Royals did get a scare because of Faf du Plessis's brisk innings, although Corbin Bosch held his nerves really well in the final over to get his side over the line.
There is nothing much to write about the batting performance here. Saint Lucia Kings got off the worst start possible. They lost 4 wickets inside three overs and that took the momentum away from them. Later, there was a rain break which led the officials to revise the target to 103 runs to be chased in 9 overs. It was a stiff challenge but Faf du Plessis fought till the very end but it was too much for a lone battle.
A comfortable win for Barbados Royals courtesy of their brilliant performance with the ball before the break. The whole damage was done there when Kyle Mayers took 4 wickets in a jiffy. Barbados Royals record their second win on the trot.

A dot and the task becomes more difficult now for the Saint Lucia Kings. This is on a length and outside off, angling away, Alzarri Joseph swings hard but misses.
