Australia Women, on the other hand, are coming into this World Cup as firm favourites. They have been almost playing like invincibles from the last few years and this World Cup is another opportunity for defending champions to enhance their legacy. They have plenty of quality options at their disposal and for them it is all about finding the right balance for these conditions. This game will surely help them in that pursuit and let’s see how things pan out between two proud cricketing nations. Toss and team news in a bit.
The ICC T20 Women's World Cup is just around the corner but before that, the teams get to play a couple of warm-up matches that will help them assess the conditions better. In the third warm-up game, two stalwarts of the game, Australia Women will square off against India Women in Cape Town. The Indian team is coming off a Tri-Series against South Africa Women and West Indies Women in which they were pretty much the dominant side before succumbing to a loss in the final against hosts South Africa. The Indians have been in the country for a bit and do have a bit of edge going into the main tournament but will be hoping to plug the holes that we saw in the Tri-Series final. Their openers haven't found their best form yet and the pacers haven't been consistent either. The spinners on the other hand have been pretty good. With skipper Harmanpreet Kaur nursing an injury, this will provide opportunities for the other players to step up and make a case for themselves. On the other hand, Australia Women last played a T20I series against Pakistan Women in Australia. They easily brushed aside their opponents in the first two games before the final T20I was abandoned due to inclement weather. Australia are also the favorites going into any World Cup and they will look to assert their authority in the warm-up game as well against a strong Indian side. Skipper, Meg Lanning who did miss the tour to India, returned to the side against Pakistan and will be hoping to rally her troops. Which side will put their best foot forward and get the win? We shall find out.
