Australia Women have sealed a spot in the semi-final, while Barbados Women still have a chance to go through, but it's not going to be an easy task for them. Earlier in the game, Meg Lanning elected to bowl first and the bowlers absolutely bamboozled the batting line-up of Barbados Women. They bundled their opposition out for just 64 runs, with Alana King grabbing four wickets and Tahlia McGrath picking three. In the end, they breezed past and got over the line within 9 overs and with 9 wickets in hand.
It was all too easy for Australia Women! They lost an early wicket by losing Beth Mooney for just two runs. But losing one wicket was never going to put Australia Women under pressure. They had many wickets in hand with fewer runs to chase. Meg Lanning walked in to bat and started firing from the word go. Alyssa Healy on the other hand took her time to settle in but once she was set, there was no stopping her. The duo stitched an unbeaten partnership of 63 runs and took Australia Women home comfortably. Time and again they have proved why they are the World Champions, and this game was just another instance of that.
Barbados Women got off to a perfect start while coming to bowl. Shanika Bruce in her first over sent back Beth Mooney for a timid score. However, they needed way more wickets to put Australia Women under pressure which they failed to do so. They started leaking runs post that and were handed a crushing defeat in the end. A tough day in the office for Barbados Women! They will need to reflect on their performance and come back stronger if they want to qualify for the semi-final.
