International women day: a day to acknowledge services of our women towards the society
International women day: World celebrates International women day on 8th March 8, every year to acknowledge the services of women for societies. Indeed women are a very integral part of society. Either they are house working ladies or office workers both work with efficiency and play a vital role in building their homes and society.
The earliest organized Women’s Day observance was held on February 28, 1909, in New York. It was organized by the Socialist Party of America in remembrance of the 1908 strike of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
The United Nations began celebrating in International Women’s Day in the International Women’s Year, 1975. In 1977, the United Nations General Assembly invited member states to proclaim March 8 as the UN Day for women’s rights and world peace.
The purpose of the event is to motivate and empower women of world, and fight for their rights. The theme of this year’s women’s day is “Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2030.” The reason is almost 50% of world’s population consists on women and they are the 2nd and parallel wheel of vehicle carrying the key to success and development. The oppression of their rights means you are unbalancing the vehicle and finally going towards a crash.
Women have many roles in her life, a daughter, a sister, a wife and later a mother. In all these phases she has different rights and different duties as well. A society is formed with all these roles of women. And not forget about man as a son, brother strength), husband (partner) and father (shelter).
Every society and religion has given many rights to women. Today people talk lots about equal rights of men and women. We will listen many debates on “Muslims oppresses the women it do not give freedom to a women etc.” The status of women is very clear from these events stated:
The Status of Women as Defined by Islam The woman is a mother and it is said that “Paradise lies under her feet” (reported by Al Tabarani). In an authentic hadith the Prophet (peace be upon him) was asked by a man: ‘Who is the one most worthy of my care?’ The Prophet replied: ‘Your mother’. The man asked: ‘Then whom?’ He replied: ‘Your mother’. The man further asked: ‘Then whom?’ He replied: ‘Your mother’. The man asked: ‘Then whom?’ And in this fourth time the Prophet replied: ‘then your father.’ This shows that Allah has placed the care of the mother as a primary responsibility of her sons.
Women frame half of society and they are responsible for the nurturing, guidance and reformation of the subsequent generations of men and women. It is the female who imbues principles and faith into the souls of the nation.
Napoleon Bonaparte once said “Give me educated mother, I shall promise you the birth of civilized, educated nation.” The concept is
mother nurtures and builds up not only child but also the nation at whole. Education is equal right of men and women. An educated man will earn good but educated women will teach new generation values and ethics.
Meanwhile If we talk about Pakistan 52% of our population consists of women. According to our culture we divided the tasks man works outside and a woman take cares of her children and home.
Normally it is said “we are outdated, we do not give rights to our women and enslaves them for our homes.”
Pakistani women not only nurture children, family and house they are also working outside homes. In every field of society they are standing side by side of men.
Moreover We can take many names from history to today like “Fatima jinah , Begum Rana Liaqat Ali Khan, Bi Amman (mother of Johar brothers) and many more.” From today we can name “Benazeer Bhutto, Marium Mukhtiar shaheed (first fighter pilot or pakistan), Arfa Kareem Randhawa and many more. ” And above all our mothers and sisters who work all the daylong for us like machines, fulfill our wishes. Cook us our favorite food, find our missing things and do many more.
Finally Let us acknowledge them for all their work for us, let us start respecting them and other women around us. Let us bring a change in our society and become a civilized one.
