Economic Growth and Technology Adoption makes Australia Target of Ransomware Attacks

Australia is most suffered country from Ransomware attacks  in Asia Pacific

 

Australians are facing more ransomware attacks than any other country in Asia Pacific. The reports for stolen files and information were double since last year.

Australian Government unveiled the threat after their first Cyber Security Strategy updates. They said they need more efforts to protect the small business of Australia from hackers. Malcolm Turnbull, PM of Australia said, “since one year the Strategy report, showed “co-operation between government and business is strong and deep, but we need to address the problem, Australia faced serious threats to digital security.

The report exposed some great mischief, the target of hackers is not only the files, the greater target is ransom. They stolen or encrypted information not returned until the victim pay the ransom to them.

“In Australia, reports of ransomware activity reported to the Australian Cybercrime Online Reporting Network roughly doubled in 2016 compared to 2015,” the report found

“Australia resides on top of the list of the target of malicious software, among those the dominant attacks are of ransomware. It may be the consequence of Economic growth and continuous adoption of technology.”

A recent survey found 60 % of business suffered a ransomware attack in Australia. Meanwhile, Australians are paying huge money for getting back the files.
